Durham Regional Police in Ontario said they received more than 600 messages from various numbers after she shared a fake online ad for sex with minors.
On Thursday, police announced that they had received hundreds of messages from various people after a false advertisement was published online that falsely offered sexual services with minors as part of the “Firebird” project. the Toronto Star reported.
However, the ad was viewed 6,678 times in just four days, according to Ontario police, who set it up to identify people interested in purchasing this type of illegal service.
According to English-language media, five people have been arrested this month and 15 charges have already been filed, just days after a Brampton man was accused of sex trafficking a teenage girl.
According to the Toronto Star, the people arrested are accused of enticing a child to provide sexual services, obtaining sexual services before the age of 18 and soliciting sexual touching before the age of 16.
As part of the project, police would also use undercover agents to pose as minors online.
