Sexual assault on a minor: a former doctor could have made other victims

A former Quebec-area doctor has been accused of sexually abusing an underage patient more than 20 years ago. The authorities fear that he could have made more victims.

Eugène Aubé was arrested on February 22 in connection with acts he allegedly committed as part of his employment in the 1990s, while practicing medicine at a Quebec medical center.

The now 74-year-old appeared at the Quebec City courthouse on Thursday to answer charges of sexual assault and sexual exploitation of a patient who was then a minor.

However, the Service de Police de la Ville de Québec (SPVQ) points out that the investigation is more likely to show that Eugène Aubé may have had other victims, particularly women.

“If you have been the victim of this person, do not hesitate to call 911 so the police can meet you,” police said in a release.

Mr. Aubé has not practiced medicine since 2009, the same year he was removed from office by the Disciplinary Committee of the College of Physicians.

He was then found guilty of four counts, including improperly prescribing a psychiatric drug to a patient and misdiagnosing it, which harmed the health of another woman.
