Many sectors have suffered during the pandemic, but some appear to have benefited.

This is especially true for adult shops that have done business with gold.
“Numbers have doubled, tripled or even quintupled during the pandemic,” explains Édith Arsenault, President of Séduction Boutiques. “People want to come back to the store, but they are better informed and asking exactly what they want.”
This type of trade was taboo for a long time, but over time customs have changed and consumers have become curious.
“Sexuality is the new mental health,” says Ms. Arsenault. “We want to take care of our overall health, so it’s both our physical health and our mental health and our sexual health, so it’s a lot more part of Quebecers’ day-to-day life.”
The new generation has also developed a very different relationship to this type of company.
“Young people are much more open,” explains Ms. Arsenault. “Your sexuality is different. Whereas we used to be in the action and in the result, today we focus more on sensuality, enjoyment and communication.
