A group of sex educators in rural Appalachia were bombarded with threats after their work was reported by a Manhattan Institute journalist.
Christopher Rufo, who specializes in culture wars, wrote about the Sexy Sex Ed team on March 16th and spoke about their online Sexy Summer Camp last year.
Rufo got their program and wrote that classes for teens 13 years and older “included lessons on ‘sex liberation’, ‘gender studies’, BDSM, being a sex worker, ‘self-guided abortion’ and ‘sexual activity while using legal and illegal drugs. ‘
Sexy Sex Ed was founded in 2012 in Whitesburg, Kentucky to provide sex education to youth in rural Appalachia.
Rufo notes that the founder, Tanya Turner, “describes herself as a ‘female, fat, weird, magical pleasure worker’ who was raised by a ‘host of female witches’ in a ‘coven mountain matriarchy’ and uses ‘crystals’.” “sex toys” and “tarot” in her teaching”.
Christopher Rufo wrote about Tanya Turner, who founded Sexy Sex Ed to help young people in rural Appalachia.
Rufo, writing for the Manhattan Institute, said: “Sexy Summer Camp founder Tanya Turner identifies as a witch, posts regularly on dildos and OnlyFans, conducts sex workshops for mixed-age children with minors and adults, and speaks openly about encouraging toddlers to have sex. masturbate
Rufo wrote about the Kentucky organization on March 16.
Rufo posted online the schedule for “Sexy Summer Camp,” which took place online during the summer for teens aged 13 and over.
Rufo noted that discussions included sex and illegal drugs, as well as handjobs.
In a social media video, she says she encouraged her nephews to masturbate, describing it as healthy and normal.
“Masturbation is really good for health and I recommend it to people of all ages. All ages,” Turner said.
“As soon as my nephews learned to speak, they started doing it.”
She said that her nephews were four years old.
However, Sexy Sex Ed revealed that they were harassed and threatened after Rufo’s article was published.
On their website, they state, “Since last Tuesday Sexy Sex Ed, our educators and our sponsors have been inundated with hundreds of threatening messages from all platforms.
“We acknowledge that the current disinformation attack on Sexy Sex Ed is part of a long-term, well-funded and coordinated right-wing strategy to maintain and consolidate its power through media and narrative control.”
The site Sexy Sex Ed reported that their employees and supporters were being harassed.
One source told Jezebel that some employees and supporters were afraid to leave their homes for fear of abuse.
Rufo hit back, saying, “Sexy Summer Camp founder Tanya Turner identifies as a witch, posts regularly on dildos and OnlyFans, conducts mixed-age sex workshops with minors and adults, and speaks openly about encouraging toddlers to masturbate.
“Criticism is legitimate and expected.
“Hurrying to play the victim is a way to avoid any meaningful discussion of real issues.
“While we must reject any form of harassment, we must not allow unsubstantiated claims of victims to obscure the fact that adults are harassing and sexualizing children.”
