Disgraced actor Armie Hammer said in his first interview in years that he was molested by a pastor when he was 13, but insisted that while he was an “asshole,” he was in his first interview since following a series became a pariah, no criminal was kept from revelations about his sex life.
Hammer, 36, has not been heard from and is rarely seen since a woman named Effie, 26, who has not given her name for fear of retribution and harassment, accused Hammer of “violently raping” her in 2021.
This led to a series of accusations from women regarding his interest in kinky sex and even cannibalism.
Hammer has denied the allegations through his attorney, saying all of his sexual encounters were “entirely consensual, discussed and agreed in advance, and in mutual participation.”
In his first interview since the scandal, Hammer continued to deny the allegations, although he admitted he was “100 percent” emotionally abusive, saying he was not a criminal and instead a victim of abandonment culture.

“I’m a healthier, happier, more balanced person now,” he said. “I’m able to be there for my kids in a way I never was. I am able to be there for my father as he dies in a way I never could have been. I’m really grateful for my life and my recovery and everything. I wouldn’t go back and undo everything that happened to me.’
Hammer, who first caught the eye of viewers on The Social Network before he was nominated for a Golden Globe for Call Me By Your Name, gave the interview because he wants to “admit my mistakes” but also wants to say it that he had no regrets was publicly shamed.
“I’m here to admit my mistakes, to take responsibility for being an asshole, for being selfish, for using people to make me feel better, and when I was done I moved on… I am now a healthier, happier and more balanced person. I’m able to be there for my kids in a way I never was… I’m really grateful for my life and my recovery and everything. I wouldn’t go back and undo everything that happened to me,” he said.
Despite this, Hammer still feels he is a victim of the abandonment culture and would like to see more opportunities for public rehabilitation like the ones his mentor Robert Downey Jr. received when he went through drug and alcohol abuse.
“There are examples everywhere of people who have gone through these things and found salvation along a new path,” he said. “And that’s what I think is missing in this business with the cancel culture and the woke mob. As soon as someone does something wrong, they are thrown away. There is no chance of rehabilitation.”
Hammer admitted to going through hell during the scandal and once attempting suicide in the Cayman Islands.
“I just went out in the sea and swam as far out as I could, hoping I either drowned, got hit by a boat, or got eaten by a shark,” Hammer said. “Then I realized that my kids were still on land and that I couldn’t do this to my kids.”
Hammer’s wife Elizabeth Chambers filed for divorce in July 2020, and six months later he was in the eye of a raging storm — with allegations of affairs, cannibalism, sexual assault and brutality.
The couple share two children: their daughter Harper, seven, and their son Ford, five.

A pair of texts Armie Hammer allegedly sent to Courtney Vucekovich were revealed in the documentary, which worried the ex-girlfriend
Messages he sent to women included talks of extreme sexual bondage and disturbing cannibalistic urges.
“I want to eat you… I’m 100% a cannibal,” read one message, while others included disturbing admissions that they wanted to eat a woman’s ribs and cut off her toes.

The LAPD launched an investigation and Hammer was never charged, but the allegations proved disastrous for Hammer’s career and he was subsequently dropped by talent agency WME as well as his personal publicist.
He was replaced by Josh Duhamel in Jennifer Lopez’s new rom-com Shotgun Wedding, and Miles Teller reprized his role in the TV series The Offer, which dramatizes the making of Francis Ford Coppola’s classic film The Godfather.
Although he was removed from those productions, Hammer had already completed filming on the Kenneth Branagh-directed mystery Death On The Nile, which also had an ensemble cast of Branagh, Gal Gadot, Annette Benning, Russell Brand and Rose Leslie, among others.
Viewers mocked a trailer for the film after it appeared to go out of its way to minimize the actor’s participation – though his brief appearances were still too much for many viewers.
Hammer was also sued by American Express over a $67,000 unpaid credit card bill, but the case was dropped this week.
He reportedly lives in the Cayman Islands and sells part-time stocks.
In September, Discovery+ released a three-part docu-series, House of Hammer, detailing Hammer’s relationships and family dynasty.
The series interviewed two of Hammer’s former girlfriends, Courtney Vucekovich and Julia Morrison, as well as members of the Hammer household.
The dark history of the Hammer family is detailed in a recent Discovery+ documentary entitled House of Hammer. The documentary claims the disgraced actor became obsessed with BDSM, forced a lap dance on a male assistant and drunk driving at 145 mph through a residential area
