Shannen Doherty is “open” to love again after sharing a difficult update about her eight-year battle with cancer.
The 52-year-old actress, who revealed that her stage 4 breast cancer has now spread to her bones, told People on Wednesday that she’s eager to date again.
“Three weeks ago I wasn’t ready at all,” she admitted, but then “something happened.”[ed].’
“There’s always a trigger, just a moment you have, someone says something to you, your ex says something to you and you’re like, ‘Okay, yeah, I’m fine. I’m fine.” “I have a degree and can carry on in a really healthy way,” she continued.
Although she’s looking for love again, Doherty wasn’t sure if she wanted a safe relationship with someone she’d known for a long time or if she was looking for something new and exciting.

“I have a best friend, a male best friend, who we joke with that we’re married,” she continued, seemingly referring to her boyfriend Chris Cortazzo, a real estate agent with whom she has posed several times on Instagram.
“I don’t know if it’s that or if it’s because you stumble upon someone and just feel an instant connection. “I’m open, and I wasn’t [before]’ she added.
Despite her ongoing health issues, the Heathers actress was optimistic about finding someone suitable for her.
“I don’t think I’ll be single forever.” “I need to love myself and really come to terms with the past before I can move on, and now I’m pretty sure I’ll meet someone – hopefully soon,” she said.
Shannen’s plan comes after she separated from her husband Kurt Iswarienko in January and filed for divorce in April this year, citing “irreconcilable differences.”
The couple had been married since 2011.
Her first two marriages were much shorter. She was married to Ashley Hamilton from 1993 to 1994 and to Rick Salomon from 2002 to 2003.
“Listen, Elizabeth Taylor still outdoes me when it comes to husbands and divorces, so I’m fine,” she joked. “I’m not ready yet, so there’s no reason to be negative about it. ‘Shit happens.’
Doherty added that not only is it a relationship she’s open to again, but it also made her think about motherhood again.
“I have…a male best friend that we joke about being married to,” she said, seemingly referring to Cortazzo. “I don’t know if it’s that or if it’s because you stumble upon someone and just feel an instant connection. “I’m open, and I wasn’t [before]’ she added

“I would love nothing more than to be a mother,” she admitted. “I’ve always wanted to do it, and I think if I do it with my best friend or a partner, I don’t know how much time it will take…”
After a pause she continued.
“I look at children who have no parents at all – no matter how long.” [with a parent] is better than nothing,” she said, before admitting she was “undecided.”[s].’
“I’m waiting, but in the meantime I have my brother’s seven children and my best friend’s children, who I kind of consider my children,” she added.
Doherty was also open about struggling with depression while battling cancer, but still managed to remain optimistic.
“Things weren’t exactly easy or smooth. They’ve been really challenging at times and it’s hard to suddenly be single at 50 with stage 4 cancer. “That’s a difficult question,” she shared. “And that was super depressing for a while, but eventually things turn around.”
Now she’s looking forward to seeing what’s around the corner.
“I didn’t want to rush into anything and sort everything out in my head because then I’m no good for another person at that point,” she said, adding, “Now I’m ready.”
Elsewhere in her cover story, Doherty revealed to People that her stage four breast cancer had spread to her bones.
The movie star, who was spotted shopping for Thanksgiving groceries with his mother last week, gave the difficult health update on her eight-year battle with cancer in a new report.
However, despite this health setback, the star remains positive as she bravely told the weekly: “I don’t want to die.”
“I’m not done living yet.” I’m not done loving yet. I’m not done creating yet. I’m not done trying to hopefully change things for the better. I’m just not done yet.’
Shannen continues to seek treatment.
Doherty revealed to People magazine that her stage four breast cancer had spread to her bones, but she remained optimistic in the face of further adversity
She said she hopes to inspire others with her cancer journey as she explained: “If you ask yourself, ‘Why me? Why did I get cancer?” and then “Why did my cancer come back?” “Why am I in Stage 4?”, which makes you search for the greater meaning in life.”
After the SAG-AFTRA strike ends, her next goal is to prove that she is still capable of acting and continuing her career despite her illness.
The former Beverly Hills, 90210 star said: “People just assume that it means you can’t walk, you can’t eat, you can’t work. “They put you out to pasture at a very young age – ‘You you’re done, you’re retired,” and we don’t do that.
“We are alive and have a completely different attitude to life.” “We are people who want to work, enjoy life and develop.”
In June, the Heathers star shared that her stage four breast cancer had spread to her brain.
She also revealed that she had undergone surgery five months earlier to remove a brain tumor, which she humorously nicknamed “Bob.”
Shannen told People: “It had to be removed and dissected to identify its pathology. “It was definitely one of the scariest things I’ve experienced in my entire life.”
The actress underwent a CT scan on January 5, which revealed that cancer cells had spread from their original location to her brain – called “brain metastases”.
However, she remains positive despite another health setback. “I don’t want to die.” I’m not done living yet. I’m not done loving yet. I’m not done creating yet. I’m not done trying to hopefully change things for the better. I’m just not done yet’; with Sarah Michelle Gellar in 2019
Shannen continues to seek treatment as her stage 4 breast cancer has spread to her bones; She will be seen in January
According to the Mayo Clinic, breast cancer is one of the cancers that most often leads to brain metastases, which can cause one or more tumors in the brain.
Shannen explained that she underwent her first radiation therapy on January 12 and that despite having an “amazing” medical team, she was scared.
Her post included a heartbreaking clip of her crying as she received cancer treatment at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
“12. January 2023,” Shannen began. “On January 5, my CT scan showed Mets in my brain.”
She then referred to a video clip released on Monday that showed her undergoing an MRI scan.
The star explained that this is part of the “process of adjusting to the mask you wear while your brain is being irradiated.”
In the clip, she can be seen lying down while doctors place a blue mold on her face. They made her bite to make sure the bite stuck to her mouth and chin.
Shannen began to cry as they held the edges of the mask and secured it to a board behind her head before putting her in the machine.
With the SAG-AFTRA strike now over, Shannen’s (pictured in September 2016) next goal is to prove that despite her illness, she is still capable and able to continue her career, as she told People: “We are lively.”

The actress continued on Tuesday: “The first round of radiation took place on January 12th. ‘My fear is obvious.’
Radiation treatment uses “beams of energy to destroy cancer cells” and can “target all or part of the brain, depending on a person’s diagnosis,” according to NYU Langone Health.
“I am extremely claustrophobic and have had a lot going on in my life,” Shannen wrote. “I am lucky to have great doctors like Dr. Amin Mirahdi and the great technicians at Cedar Sinai.
