Shark Tank star Daymond John issued restraining order against former contestants

Shark Group CEO Daymond John opens up on the SVB collapse and the release of his new children’s book The Claman Countdown.

Shark Tank star Daymond John has been granted a permanent restraining order against three former contestants.

The restraining order was issued against the candidates – former NFL player Al “Bubba” Baker, his wife and daughter – after they began speaking out on social media about their “nightmarish” experience with the celebrity investor.

The trio are now barred from making public statements about John and the business relationship, according to a court order filed Friday and obtained by Fox Business.

Court documents state that the family is barred from making public comments or encouraging others to make comments that “could be viewed in any way as negative, derogatory, or inaccurate, which could adversely affect the reputation, goodwill, credibility, or value of DF Ventures, LLC (or any of its members) or Daymond John, or discourage current or potential customers from purchasing products from them.”

The Baker family, who appeared on the show in 2014, must also delete all previous posts alleging that John tried to take control of their business, Bubba’s Q Boneless Baby Back Ribs.

By Sunday, Bubba, Sabrina and Brittani had removed all social media posts related to the allegations, according to a statement from the family’s attorney.

“The decision against the Bakers, their company and their false statements is a moment of justification. The actual facts, the record and the opinion of the federal judge have confirmed that I did not, and could not have, committed any wrongdoing,” John Fox told Business in a statement through his representative. “This is meant to be a reminder of the importance of truth in an age of misinformation and clickbait.”

“I have always maintained transparency and honesty on my way as an entrepreneur. I am grateful for the support I have received during this time and will continue to defend my reputation with the same passion I empower other entrepreneurs. Let us strive for a world where integrity reigns and false accusations have no power.”

After joining the business reality television series, the Baker family claimed working with John was a “nightmare” and took to social media to criticize him.

John has been accused of “misleading” the owners of Bubba Q’s Boneless Baby Back Ribs, stealing their profits and depriving them of lucrative opportunities, according to the Baker family after they publicly revealed details of the “Shark Tank” business deal.

The FUBU founder denied the allegations in a previous statement to Fox Business.

“Following repeated attempts to give the Bakers an opportunity to rectify their infractions. It’s unfortunate it has come to this,” said Zach Rosenfield, a spokesman for John. “This injunction stems from Baker’s flagrant actions to undermine a business partnership and the legal parameters they agreed on four years ago.”

In 2015, the Bakers featured their boneless baby back ribs in the fifth season of Shark Tank. The family claimed that John’s offer at the time was revised from $300,000 for 30% of the company’s off-air business to $100,000 for 35%.

The family also said they only received 4% of the $16 million in revenue the company generated.
