Sharon Osbourne has ruled out returning to The X Factor after comparing it to the Wild West and saying: “The whole thing needs to change.”
The 71-year-old TV personality was a judge on the talent show from 2004 to 2007 before returning in 2013, 2016 and 2017 and also appeared on America's Got Talent between 2007 and 2012.
However, she has now stated that she will not serve as a judge again due to the potential harm the shows could cause to contestants.
Speaking to host Jackie Brambles on her Greatest Hits radio show on Wednesday, Sharon spoke about The [Walsh] is still like my brother Nicole [Scherzinger] and Gary Barlow – great people.'
However, she continued: “But as far as talent shows go, and I've stayed away from them for a while, it was a bit like the Wild West.”

“They didn’t really know how important it was and what it meant to people’s lives, and I think the whole thing needs to change.”
“Not only does it provide opportunities for a lot of people in their careers, but it can also harm a lot of people.” You have to be very, very careful.
“You care about people’s lives, you have their future in your hands and there is nothing to laugh about.”
Although she said she had no regrets, she admitted that she would not go back, stating: “I wouldn't want to take on that responsibility again, there is harm out there and I don't want to be a part of it.”
“I don’t regret it, I learned a lot about the responsibility of doing a show like this and it was a great education.”
On The X Factor, contestants competed to win a record deal by showcasing their musical talent.
However, a big part of the show – which caused controversy from the start – was that it was exploitative, encouraging people to audition only to be relentlessly criticized by the judges.
Sharon's comments come a year after she previously criticized talent shows such as The X Factor and America's Got Talent, this time for being “outdated”.

However, a big part of the show – which caused controversy from the start – was that it was exploitative, encouraging people to audition only to have them ruthlessly criticized by the judges (Zoe Alexander, pictured on the show in 2012 ).
Speaking to TalkTV about Britain's Got Talent, she said: “But I think it's like a variety show and you can only last so long until you've sorted through everything… These types of shows are very outdated in my opinion. “
She added: “Everything here is crowded, so they're bringing talent from all over the world – like they do in America.” They're going to bring over all the Europeans, like they were queuing up to rehearse earlier than planned was.
“I've always said, if you've seen the show for a season or two and you go to the audition, you know what to expect. So don't be surprised or hurt because you saw everyone else going to the slaughter.”
Sharon decided to leave The X Factor judging panel in October 2018, despite previously confirming she would be returning for season 15.
In a statement, she said: “After watching the new season of The X Factor, I have seen the new judges find their rhythm and do an excellent job.”
“Simon was kind enough to give me a spot at the live shows, but at this point I really don’t think I’m needed and I’d honestly feel strange coming in at this point.”
“I've decided to give up on the show this year. “I wish the show continued success and as much as I love seeing my face on TV, you'll have to give up on me this season.”
However, in 2019, she claimed that she had been axed by fellow judge and series creator Simon Cowell because of her age.

Sharon shared: “I declined to be a judge on The Masked Singer. At that time I was hired for another show.
“I was signed to go to England and then Simon Cowell changed his mind and thought I was too old. 'I had a contract and couldn't do it.'
In her true comedic style, she joked: “Simon says, “She’s old. We need someone young. “So if you want to be young then fire yourself and get rid of these man t**s!”

However, Simon later expressed interest in working with Sharon again, despite their apparent feud.

“That's what happens when you work with people you like. They fall out on business, but for me, I say what I feel and it's over for me.”
Although the friends patched things up, Sharon showed no interest in maintaining a professional relationship with Simon.
But she still denied wanting to reunite with Simon for another project, saying: “Just because I said certain things about and to Simon doesn't mean I hate him forever, just for that second I like him.” not him.”
