Shawn Mendes cancels rest of his tour due to mental hiatus

Shawn Mendes announced Wednesday morning that he is canceling the remainder of his tour to continue his mental hiatus.

“As you know I’ve had to reschedule shows for the last few weeks as I wasn’t fully prepared for the toll returning to the streets would take,” the ‘Treat You Better’ singer began his social media post. statements .

“I started this tour excited to finally be able to play live again after a long hiatus due to the pandemic, but the reality is I wasn’t at all ready for how difficult touring was going to be after this time.”

Mendes, 23, said after speaking to his team and an “incredible group of healthcare professionals” they concluded it had “become clearer” that he needed to take the time he needed “Never took it personally” that he could “ground himself” and “come back stronger.”

The ‘Lost in Japan’ singer, who admitted he was heartbroken by the decision, said he hopes to resume his tour dates after a “much needed break” but in the meantime will continue to create new music for his record fans.

Mendes’ update comes just weeks after he originally announced he was rescheduling his tour, known as the Wonder: The World Tour. His tour began in Portland in June and was scheduled to last through August 2023.

Mendes also alluded to his mental health issues in April when he told fans he had a hard time telling the truth about himself.
