Tatjana Patitz, one of the most famous supermodels of the 1990s, died at the age of 56 (“supermodels” is the term used to describe the most famous and highest paid models). Patitz first rose to prominence after appearing on a famous cover of the UK version of Vogue magazine in 1990 alongside other famous supermodels such as Naomi Campbell and Cindy Crawford; and thanks to a long collaboration with Peter Lindbergh, one of the most popular fashion photographers, known for his unretouched and natural photos, who died in 2019. She was recently diagnosed with breast cancer.
Patitz was born in Hamburg, Germany, in 1966 to an Estonian mother and a German father. However, she lived in Sweden from a young age and started working in the fashion industry when she was 17. She first appeared on the cover of British Vogue in 1985 and appeared on more than 130 magazine covers over the next few years. She modeled for many of the world’s biggest fashion brands, became a popular supermodel for Chanel and Versace, and has appeared in several ad campaigns for brands such as Revlon and Ralph Lauren. In the 1990s she also appeared as an actress in a number of films.
She continued to show off into recent years, but after finding success, she stayed away from the world of entertainment and fashion parties, pursuing a personal life outside of work in California, where she resided.
