A 35-year-old French mother and her three-year-old child died after a fatal fall from a cliff near Dieppe in the Seine-Maritime department as authorities opened an investigation into the murder of a minor.
The tragedy occurred on Saturday afternoon near the steps of the beach in Sotteville-sur-Mer, where firefighters lifted the two bodies by helicopter, the Paris-Normandie media reported on Monday.
The circumstances of this event, unclear to say the least, prompted the courts to immediately reject the theory of an accident and open an investigation into the murder of a minor under 15 years old by her ancestor.
“The autopsies of the mother and child are scheduled for this week,” the Rouen prosecutor’s office said, according to French media, indicating that the investigation was entrusted to the Fécamp gendarmerie brigade.
The investigation continues into the circumstances of this tragedy, which claimed the lives of a mother and her child on this beach. There was already a cliff collapse last November that led to its closure.
