A group of climate activists said a topless woman protested outside Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s office on Saturday afternoon and vandalized the building in downtown Ottawa on Saturday afternoon.
Pictures shared by climate protection organization On 2 Ottawa show the young activist holding a placard that reads in English: “We demand climate protection now!”.
The activist also took the opportunity to throw pink paint (in the organization’s colors) at the door and walls of the building occupied by the Prime Minister.
“We are here in Ottawa calling for a town hall meeting to express the urgent need for climate action now, not in the next five to 10 years as the government has planned,” said the protester, whose identity goes by the name Ever According to a press release from the organization, according to information from Global News.
“The time for urgent action has come, we still have time to make a difference.”
Footage also shows the protester removing her sweater before tying herself to the banister outside the building.
The woman was later removed from the ramp by officers, only to be handcuffed and led away from the scene.
Later on Saturday, employees were seen cleaning up the scene.
On 2 Ottawa officials have also said it was the same person who also appeared topless on the Junos Awards stage last month to disrupt the Edmonton event.
The group has announced that it intends to hold climate change rallies over the next few days to educate the public.
