Irish courts have rejected 36-year-old Kamila Grabska's claim for compensation. She said she has been disabled since a car accident six years ago.

After a car accident on February 3, 2017, in which she sustained neck and back injuries, Kamila Grabska filed legal action against her insurance company seeking €760,000 in compensation, reports The Irish Independent. A vehicle had hit her car from behind and the young woman explained in particular that she had not been able to work or play with her children for more than five years.

But that didn't take into account the photos of this resident of County Clare in the west of Ireland that were found on social media. In the pictures from 2018, Kamila Grabska takes part in a Christmas tree throwing competition and emerges as the women's winner after throwing a tree no less than 1.50 meters. In light of the photographs released by Clare County Regional Council, the Limerick High Court judge rejected his application.

An incoherent speech

“It is a very large natural Christmas tree which she throws with a very agile motion,” the judge explained, quoted by The Irish Independent. The court found that the young Irishwoman had only sought medical attention after the competition and complained that she was no longer able to lift a heavy bag without feeling sharp pain, reports The Guardian. She had to give up her job and has since received an allowance linked to her disability.

Because of the past and future loss of income caused by her injuries, Kamila Grabska filed a complaint claiming that she was sometimes unable to leave her bed for half the day. She denied faking her injuries and told the court she was trying to “live a normal life” and was still in pain, although she looked happy in the photos. The court also found a video of her walking her dog in a park for more than an hour. He ultimately dismissed the case because he believed that the plaintiff's conduct following her car accident was “totally inconsistent” with her statements about her injuries.
