Sheridan Smith has revealed that she has been diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
The 42-year-old actress opened up about her diagnosis in an interview with Vogue, admitting that it helped her “understand a lot of things in her life.”
Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder is a condition that causes symptoms such as restlessness and difficulty concentrating.
The mother-of-one finds she's constantly “over-analyzing” little things – as simple as answering WhatsApp group chats or overthinking what to say.
Sheridan, who also spoke about how she can feel “useless” at times, revealed that her ADHD diagnosis led to the conclusion as to why she has a lot of “background noise in her brain.”

Sheridan has a son, Billy, three, with her ex-boyfriend Jamie Horn, 33, from whom she split in 2021.
This comes after Sheridan revealed that she believes her son Billy will follow in her footsteps and pursue a career in acting.
The Cilla star said that while her little boy was already practicing some techniques, she wasn't exactly keen on the idea of him joining the entertainment industry.
But Billy's father Jamie believes the toddler's future lies with Arsenal as a footballer.
The actress said, “I'm trying to get him to do something other than acting.” I'm thinking, “Don't be an actor, son,” but I don't think I have much of a choice.
“I mean, since he couldn't even talk, he would always take the remote and pretend it was a phone, and I'd be like, 'Oh my God, he's going to be an actor.'”
She told Magic FM: “He's such a little actor.” I recently caught him practicing his sad face in the mirror. He is three. “He saw how well it worked.”
“I just thought, 'You cheeky little monkey, you know that works for me too.' So now I know I think he's going to be an actor.'
