Tragedy struck in San Diego, California, where a one-year-old girl was shot dead by her three-year-old brother on Monday. This was reported by police, according to ABC News. The girl was shot in the head and taken to a local hospital, where her death was pronounced. There are currently no further details on the episode. According to the Everytown for Gun Safety organization, which works to prevent gun violence, there have been at least 221 accidental shootings by children in the United States this year, killing 78 and injuring 151.
Shortly thereafter, a three-year-old boy driving a golf cart hit and killed a seven-year-old boy in Fort Myers, Florida.
The accident happened on a residential street when the vehicle the child was driving struck the other boy in front of the garden of the house. The phenomenon of children driving golf carts is so widespread in Florida that Gov. Ron DeSantis has had to impose an 18-year ban on driving golf carts.
