A thousand people, at least 1200, witnessed the umpteenth case of a cat attacking a trainer in a circus. This time, the horror scene comes from Sochi on the Black Sea, where a Russian circus show was taking place: Alexey Makarenko, 42, and his wife Olga Borisova, 43, both cat tamers, were in the cage. There were four male lions who, as unfortunately often happens, are forced to do whipping exercises.
The horror begins when two males start fighting each other. The two tamers try to separate them with a whip and seem to be successful. But then one of the lions attacks the trainer from behind and his wife immediately comes to his aid. At the same time, the lights are turned off and the staff go into emergency mode, using water cannons and “sonic grenades” to scare off the beasts.
Makarenko meanwhile gets up and throws an object at the lion to scare him, but he is attacked again and this time water cannons were used in addition to his wife’s intervention.
Surprisingly, the couple then bowed and hugged in front of the audience as if nothing had happened. But the pictures of the trainer’s back and arms with deep scratches and holes tell a very different story.
