During the closing stages of the 8/17 AEW Dynamite, there was a shocking betrayal.
After returning Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks defeated Andrade El Idolo, Rush & Dragon Lee, You could see Omega looking at Lee and giving luchador props to look his best. Omega and Lee also hugged before The Best Bout Machine exited the ring.
Apparently, Lee’s fellow La Facción Ingobernables, Andrade and Rush, were upset with his public respect for Omega. After lifting him to his feet, Andrade dropped Lee with a hammerlock DDT, which also resulted in the luchador being exposed. The AEW announcers were shocked and Omega & Matt Jackson stormed back to the ring. That’s when the show went off the air.
AEW President Tony Khan announced this via Twitter that an exclusive video of the post-game betrayal will air this Friday on AEW Rampage.
Omega had Lee pinned after a V-trigger and One Winged Angel to secure the win for his team. With the win, Omega & Bucks qualified for the next round of the AEW World Trios Championship tournament where they will play either the Death Triangle or the Will Ospreay & Aussie Open. The first AEW World Trios Champions will be crowned at the All Out pay-per-view on September 4th.
As previously mentioned, Omega addressed fans with an emotional speech after returning to AEW TV for the first time in almost 300 days.
