Shocking fan footage shows Taylor Swift fans chanting “We need water” at a steamy concert in Brazil as Ana Clara Benevides dies of cardiac arrest

A Taylor Swift concert-goer named Ana Benevides died on Friday night at the Estádio Olímpico Nilton Santos in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, after fainting due to the brutal heat in the stadium.

And shocking fan footage has revealed the moment fans shouted: “We need water” as they battled dehydration at the humid concert.

In the clip, filmed by an onlooker, Taylor can be heard responding to calls for water by asking those in front of her for help, while also observing the sweltering temperature at the venue.

She said, “See that?” I’m sorry, it’s just really hot. So when someone says they need water when it’s this hot, they really need it.”

To calm the turmoil while urging people to give water to those in need, Taylor continued: “We don’t need to chant, that’s totally fine.” We just need to give them water. Does anyone here have water?’

During her performance of “All Too Well,” Taylor grabbed the bottle from a helpful stagehand, strolled to center stage and hurled it into the crowd.

The viral fan video of the incident was captioned: “Taylor throws a water bottle at a fan in need of help while singing All Too Well #RioTSTheErasTour.”

Hours later, it was announced that a concertgoer named Ana Benevides, 23, had died at the show after fainting due to the brutal heat in the stadium, which reached temperatures of over 100 Fahrenheit, according to local sources.

Swift was completely unaware of the tragedy during her performance and has since issued a statement expressing her sadness over Benevides’ death and extending her condolences to the young girl’s family.

“I can’t believe I’m writing these words, but with your heartbreak I say we lost a fan before my show tonight.” “I can’t tell you how devastated I am about this,” Taylor wrote in her Instagram statement after the show.

“There is very little information that I have other than the fact that she was so incredibly beautiful and very young,” she continued.

“I won’t be able to talk about it on stage because if I even try to talk about it I’ll be overcome with grief.”

“I would like to say now that I feel this loss deeply and my heartbreak goes out to her family and friends.” “That was the last thing I ever thought would happen when we decided to move the store to Brazil.”

During the concert, the hitmaker thanked her Brazilian fans and the city for their warm welcome to light up the famous Christ the Redeemer statue in her honor.

A projection on the monument read “Welcome to Brazil” and featured a T-shirt design based on the “Junior Jewels shirt” Taylor wore in her “You Belong With Me” music video.

Taylor Swift will perform in front of tens of thousands of fans at two more shows in Rio this week, with three more planned for the following weekend in Sao Paulo.

Her next two shows this weekend are again at the Estádio Olímpico Nilton Santos in Rio de Janeiro before heading to Sao Paolo.

It is understood Taylor will fly back to the US for Thanksgiving before returning to Brazil for the Sao Paolo shows on November 24th.

From Sao Paolo she will travel to Tokyo and Singapore before beginning the European leg of the Eras Tour.

Latin American fans took advantage of relatively cheap tickets to see the “Shake it Off” singer live.

While tickets in the US rose to over $1,600 on some resale sites, Vivid Seats offered tickets to concerts in Brazil for just $91.

Taylor wrote on Instagram on Monday: “Starting the South American leg of the Eras Tour in Argentina = best possible decision.”

“I can’t even express my gratitude to the spectators in Buenos Aires. “I’ve never been to Argentina before and they gave us the most electric, magical memories.”
