Shocking dashcam footage shows the moment a 16-year-old car thief jumped from a moving vehicle in Ohio as he tried to evade police.

The teenager, who was wearing a neck brace in a previous accident, sped away from officers around 1am before hitting a strip of spikes and beginning to swerve.

He drives along the road’s guardrail and can be seen transitioning from the driver’s side of the car to the passenger seat.

But then he jumps out the door and loses both shoes as he bounces off the ground – his legs whipping up and flipping over to hit the guardrail.

Miraculously, Whitehall Police said, the Columbus teenager walked away from the crash with only minor injuries.
