Shocking moment Texas CPS employee tells 14-year-old girl to become a PROSTITUTE so she can afford food: agency fires employee and apologizes after video surfaced
- In an undated video, a Texas Child Protective Services worker tells a 14-year-old girl that she should become a prostitute
- The worker responded to the child asking for food
- As a result of the video, the CPS employee was fired
- The child’s mother, Keisha Bazley, said: “If I were to do something like that to my child. I would be called a terrible parent. I would lose my children.”
The shocking moment when a child protective service worker in Texas told a 14-year-old girl to become a prostitute was caught on video.
The teen’s mother, Keisha Bazley, told Fox26: “My daughter told me that the worker had told her to do these things, so she said she decided to film them.”
Bazley told the broadcaster that she has nine children. When she started having problems with her 14-year-old daughter, she turned to CPS for help.
She said the unnamed teenager caused trouble at school and ran away from home.
The teen is one of many children in the Harris County, Texas, hotel-based foster care system. The children in the hotels are waiting for their mediation.
According to the Fox Houston report, the video shows the 14-year-old asking the CPS worker for food. The social worker responds by telling the child to become a prostitute.

The identity of the CPS worker in the shocking video has not been released
As a result of the amazing interaction, the CPS employee was fired. Her identity has not been made public.
In response, Bazley filed a formal complaint with the CPS. She told Fox26: “If as a parent I did something like that to my child, I would get spanked.”
Bazley added: “I would be called a terrible parent. I would lose my children.”
She continued: “This shouldn’t happen to girls in their care. It shouldn’t happen. it is unacceptable.’
Houston-based family attorney Mike Schneider told the broadcaster that the teen’s request for food is being met with “almost a threat that his needs will not be met unless she does what this woman has told her very specifically.”
When asked if a child would be removed from a parent if they made the same comments as the CPS worker, Schneider said, “They should, and they would.”

In the video, the identity of the CPS employee, who has now been fired, is being concealed
Texas Department of Family and Safeguarding Services Commissioner Jamie Masters made the pilgrimage to Harris County to personally apologize to Bazley and her daughter for the comments.
Schneider said, “I’ve never seen the commissioner of CPS come in from Austin just to apologize for something horrible that was done to a kid related to CPS.”
He added: “It’s bad enough if it’s just one bad rogue worker. It worries me that it could be bigger and they have to make sure it’s not just one person and they have to find a way to protect these kids.
The Texas Tribune reported in March 2022 that a private child care facility operated under a state contract closed after employees were found to be dealing in children in care.
A CPS spokeswoman, Melissa Lanford, said in response to the shocking video: DFPS is aware of the video and has taken action. The person in the video – who was employed as a CPS support staff – was fired from his position on August 10. The safety and appropriateness with which children in care are to be treated is our primary concern. Less will not be tolerated.’
In June, US District Judge Janis Jack voiced her concerns that the Texas CPS was not conducting adequate background checks on potential caregivers, reports the San Antonio Express-News.
