(ANSA) — MOSCOW, DECEMBER 21 — Russia will establish naval bases in Mariupol and Berdyansk, both cities in occupied Ukraine, according to Russian Defense Minister Seghiei Shoigu. “The ports of Berdyansk and Mariupol are fully operational. We plan to set up bases for auxiliary ships, emergency rescue services and naval ship repair units,” Shoigu said when presenting his report on the Ukraine conflict to President Vladimir Putin.
