One person was killed and at least one other was shot and injured in a shooting at Padock Mall in Ocala, Florida, on Saturday afternoon.
Local police state on X (formerly Twitter) that the suspect fled the scene and therefore it is no longer an active shooter situation.
“We believe the shooter has left the scene and is at sea,” Ocala police wrote.
An adult male was found dead in a common area and a female was taken to the hospital and is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
We believe the shooter has fled the area and is at large.
We also believe this shooting may have been targeted.

The entire shopping center has been evacuated and there is no longer any danger to the public.
Authorities are continuing their investigation and continue to ask the public to avoid the area.
