A suspect reportedly shot several people inside an apartment building in the Ontario town of Vaughan on Sunday night before being shot dead by police.
Authorities initially received a call at around 7:20 p.m. for the presence of an armed person and later found that a shootout was ongoing.
The event reportedly took place at a residential building off Rutherford Road and Jane Street in Vaughan, a town 30 kilometers north of Toronto.
For now, there are multiple victims, with no indication of whether they are injured or dead.
The man believed to be behind the shooting was killed by authorities, York Regional Police Officer Maniva Armstrong confirmed to the Journal.
“This is a large residential building and investigators need to review it in its entirety to confirm the information,” she said. This is a very serious incident.”
Police also said the Special Investigations Unit, Ontario’s equivalent of the Independent Investigations Office, would be notified.
