Shots fired in Montreal, a 19-year-old man seriously injured

Montreal police are trying to determine if there is a link between a shooting that broke out in Mercier – Hochelaga-Maisonneuve Tuesday night and a 19-year-old man with gunshot wounds who was found ten minutes later near Montreal’s University Hospital Center became.

The shooting happened around 9:35 p.m. near the intersection of avenues Souligny and Sainte-Émile, but the police dispatched to the scene of the crime found neither victims nor suspects, except that they found at least one case on the ground.

Then, about ten minutes later, a second intervention with a man wounded by a bullet took place at the corner of Rue Sanguinet and Avenue Viger, just a few steps from the Center Hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CHUM) downtown.

The 19-year-old victim had serious upper body injuries, but there is no fear for his life after he was rushed to the hospital, Montreal city spokeswoman Jeanne Drouin said.

It is not known if the victim was injured during the shooting in the Mercier sector and how he ended up near the CHUM, questions SPVM investigators are investigating.

“At the moment we cannot confirm whether or not the two events are linked,” Agent Drouin said, noting that surveillance camera images are to be viewed and witnesses are to be met by police-backed investigators.
