The group were due to perform on the festival’s main stage on July 11, but were forced to turn back for reasons related to the treatment of Karl Tremblay, who was suffering from cancer.

“We would have really liked to have been with you tonight. Unfortunately that is not possible. We hope with all our hearts that we can recover,” signed Marie-Annick Lépine on behalf of the group.

“We did shows with the gastronomy [en laissant une chaudière sur le bord de la scène pour aller vomir entre deux chansons]we’ve done shows with more than 39.9 fever […]. Every time one of the group members felt bad, the others gave more. So that our show is always the best possible. We are so blessed to have you with us.”

Fans immediately rushed to show their love for the band’s lead singer in the comments.

“If we want him to be a dashing cowboy for a long time, we need to take care of him,” commented one user. “Karl’s health comes first and no one who loves cowboys would say otherwise,” wrote another fan.

It is the members of Les Trois Accords, who were in the Plains yesterday, who will take the place of the Cowboys Fringants at the Festirame d’Alma, a gesture that the group wanted to highlight.

“Thank you to our longtime friends, Les Trois Accords, for replacing us.”

The Cowboys Fringants will return to the Plains of Abraham stage on July 13 as part of the Festival d’été de Québec.
