Since writing for RDS Jeux Vidéo, I have been giving my opinions and opinions on several games and topics of the industry for years. For the first time, I am asking for your help to lead a front against a multinational corporation. I named Nintendo, which I generally like:

Take us back to Super Mario Bros. 35!

Petition Nintendo Mario 35

On April 1st of the year of grace 2020, Nintendo put online Super Mario Bros. 35 to celebrate our favorite plumber’s 35th birthday.

One of the few free additions that can be easily played online on the Switch, this game was a battle royale version of the very first Super Mario Bros. in which we faced 34 other players to emerge victorious.

When we knocked an enemy off our screen, they would teleport into an opponent’s screen. In the same way, we received bugs from others in our game that we could send back to them.

We could semi-decide who gets our cheek, between the person with little time on the counter, the person with the most money, the one (or those) attacking us, or completely at random. My strategy was to target those who were low on time at the beginning, as their deaths brought me money.

As the game progressed, I often aimed at my attackers as it was pointing at more than one person at a time.

It all led to a cacophonous game of Super Mario Bros. 1 where flying fish, squid and Bowser could show up at any time!

For 20 cents we could try our luck to get a mysterious item: a mushroom, a flower, a star or a POW block that eliminated all enemies at once.

At the beginning of a game all players vote on races and if we were against new players we would revisit the first levels very often. A few minutes of action and those levels were challenging though.

Towards the end we were a couple of die-hards fighting a relentless battle for victory. What got a player the gold medal most of the time was the ticking clock.

Normally, jumping on enemies adds seconds to the initial 35 seconds of the counter, but towards the end it drops so quickly that we had to kill enemies as quickly as possible to avoid being eliminated.

And with all the stress, boom. Our screen freezes and we are proclaimed victory!

Just fun!

On April 1, 2021, Nintendo decided to pull this pleasure from under our feet for no good reason. I regularly miss Super Mario Bros 35.

If you follow my streams on the RDS Jeux Vidéo Facebook page, you know that I’ve finished in the top 3 so many times that when I didn’t make it, I took action.

I recently quit a Super Mario Bros game, the first one, and the experience really isn’t the same. I think Super Mario Bros 35 is the best way to revisit this classic. If Nintendo wanted to continue building on its legacy, the return of this game is a great way to introduce the youngest to this seminal work while also allowing the older ones to return.

Also, this game probably costs Peanuts to roll. You won’t lead me to believe that playing Super Mario Bros. games consumes that much energy.

After we removed it, Nintendo and Atari gave us Pac-Man 99. I don’t know anyone who has played this game more than 4 times. Pooh.

While many games remain online with mixed reviews, Super Mario Bros. 35 was exceptionally nearly unanimous. It would also be in Nintendo’s interest to return it to us. To sign my petition, follow this link. Let’s bring Super Mario Bros. 35!

Or but. bring us a similar version for Super Mario Bros 3 or Super Mario World!
