This was announced by the boxer’s promoter, Eye of the Tiger Management (EOTTM), in a press release on Wednesday.

Kean is awaiting approval from medical professionals before gradually returning to training.

“I’m really disappointed not to be able to fight in Shawinigan on December 16th,” said Kean, as quoted in the EOTTM press release. I’ve had some of my best career fights here. The atmosphere and the support people give me is second to none and it is what drives me to excel in the ring. While I’m not going to the arena on the night of the 16th, it’s still a solid map with some exciting fights. The spectators will be amazed.”

“We are disappointed to have to stop the fight because the training went well and we saw real improvements in the points scored. But after Simon’s injury, we couldn’t train fully and fell behind in preparing for the fight. Simon will focus on his treatments, rest and we will gradually resume training to be strong again in 2023,” added his trainer Vincent Auclair.

The gala will be an opportunity for the Shawinigan audience to see heavyweight Arslanbek Makhmudov at work as he takes on Michael Wallisch.
