The 12-song collection is titled King of a Land and will be released in June on Dark Horse Records, the record label founded by George Harrison. The album’s cover artwork shows a boy playing a guitar on the ground while a cat stretches and a train runs across a track.
The first excerpt is a happy and family song, Take the World Apart.
The album reunited Stevens with producer Paul Samwell-Smith, who produced three of the artist’s albums between 1970 and 1972: Tea for the Tillerman, Teaser and the Firecat, and Catch Bull at Four.
Stevens, who took the name Yusuf after converting to Islam, has been a respected writer since his debut in 1967.
