The court case against Corneliu Monteanu began Wednesday in Montreal, confirmed Me Audrey Roy-Cloutier, spokeswoman for the director of law and law enforcement.

Corneliu is accused three years apart in 2013 and then in 2016 of administering or inducing consumption of “a poison, a destructive substance” to his victims [ou] a harmful substance with intent to harm or distress that person,” the indictment said.

The 39-year-old man was the subject of an arrest warrant in Montreal on November 10, 2022 and was arrested a few days later on November 14.

The case has been postponed to February 14 for further trials.

In July 2019, the court case against the singer was dropped in a count of theft from a Canadian tire in Laval and conspiracy, according to the Journal de Montréal.

Corneliu made his name to the Quebec public with his participation in the second season of Star Académie in 2004.
