Singer Cat Janice (28), who suffered from lung cancer, died this Wednesday at the age of 31. The American artist rose to prominence after her song “Dance You Outta My Head” went viral on TikTok to avoid leaving her sevenyearold son Loren without money.

“This morning, in her childhood home and surrounded by her loving family, Catherine peacefully entered the light and love of her heavenly Creator,” a statement on Cat's Instagram read.

The artist's family also expressed their gratitude for the support they have received over the past few months and for the response the song received on social media. “We are forever grateful for the outpouring of love that Catherine and our family have received over the past few months. Cat has seen her music reach places she never expected and rests in the knowledge that she will continue to support her son through it.” “Without all of you, this wouldn't have been possible,” he added.

Cat wrote “Dance You Outta My Head” for her son and asked for help on social media to make the song go viral. This means that all earned income would be attributed to the heir. “My final joy would be if you save and play my song because all the profits go directly to my sevenyearold son who I leave behind,” Cat said in the video posting the track.

The video was released in January this year and had more than 51 million views and five million likes on the video platform. The report mobilized the internet and the song even made it into the TikTok Billboard Top 50.

@cat.janice Thank you for loving me. I pray for a miracle to help me do this, but I believe I am called “home.” My final joy would be if you would presave and stream my song “Dance You Outta My Head” to my bio because all proceeds will go directly to my 7 year old son who I leave behind. Please kindly share this, I have to leave it to him. If there's anything you need to know, it's that the only opinion you have about yourself is your opinion. Love yourself and be gentle with others. I hope I get through this, but if not, I wish everyone a good night. #Cancer #Songwriter ♬ Dance You Outta My Head Cat Janice
