In “Late hours” Juliette said that she is an artist with a social mission. Singer and actress Samantha Schmtz questioned the legitimacy of the former BBB (Photo: Globo/Disclosure)
“A year is a very short time for a person to become a great singer. There’s also a lot of pressure on her. I can imagine the nervousness. So I think it’s normal for her to make mistakes. Juliette is going through it the process of maturing as a singer”

The winner of “Big Brother Brasil 21”, Juliette Freire, was one of the guests of the program “Altas hora”, which was broadcast on TV Globo on the 14th and takes a public stand on social issues.
“Well, I think that as an anonymous person, I’ve made a point of participating in anything that impacts society or impacting myself, or contributing to something positive. As an artist, I think I have to do that. We are not prominent, our career is not just for us, we have a social role. So I think that everything that affects society affects us. Me, as an artist, today, who I’m becoming, who I am, I think I have to do it,” Juliette said.
“Juliette’s voice has a beautiful, soft timbre. It’s nice to hear for the kind of music she sings. In tune there are some points that it halftones due to lack of vocal control but nothing that detracts from the quality of the vocals.”

The speech was shared by Mdia Ninja’s profile on Instagram, and actress Samantha Schmtz countered the former BBB. In the comments to the post, he hinted that Juliette isn’t an artist: “I love taking a stand, but is she an artist?”. The actress deleted the comment shortly after, but couldn’t contain the impact of the criticism.
The debate swept social media, sparking a discussion about what an artist should be. Actress Ingrid Guimares, for example, defended the former BBB. “I found this reflection of an artist as popular as Juliette incredible. (…) Being an artist goes far beyond being famous. We have serious discussions (also with humor), we create reflections through a text, an expression, a dance, music, images, screens. (…) to be an artist, above all to be human,” she wrote.
Juliette is not only a media phenomenon, but also an artist? sings well THAT state of mines He asked these questions to singing professionals who have nothing to do with the work in Paraíba. They took into account that the former BBB is at the beginning of her career and has only released one EP “Juliette” (2021) and recently the single “Cansar de danar” (2022).
Vocal coach and vocal technique teacher Anthonio Marra watched “Altas hora” with Juliette because the band Lagum he worked with was also present. He then followed the evolution of the controversy on social media. He believes the exBBB is, yes, an artist.
“For me, an artist is a professional who deals with creativity, with sensitivity and thus touches people. Juliette touched people. That’s how she won the ‘BBB’, by the way. He has great charisma and that is a positive point for anyone who is an artist. She’s taking a stand and trying to showcase the music of her birthplace and honor her roots.”
As for Juliette’s vocal ability, Marra claims that she is very young to be a professional singer. To become a “highperformance professional,” he still has to acquire a level of maturity that he believes will only change with time.
“A year is too short a time to become a great singer. She’s also under a lot of pressure. I can imagine the nervousness. So I think it’s natural for them to make mistakes. Juliette is maturing as a singer,” she says.
The professor comments that the exBBB’s repertoire, essentially devoted to Forr and MPB, is not designed to “show her voice”. “Juliette sings softly. an open corner, for beginners. Only with time will she feel confident and be able to seek other vocal resources.”

Speech therapist and singing teacher Maria Luiza Melo visited at the request of the INJuliette’s appearance in multishow “Msica boa ao vivo” program, in which she performed “Diferena mara”, one of her most famous songs.
“Juliette’s voice has a beautiful, soft timbre. It’s nice to hear for the kind of music she sings,” she says.
Nevertheless, the speech therapist points out that the singing of the former BBB has very common characteristics. “There are a few spots in the tuning where there are semitones due to lack of vocal control, but nothing that detracts from the quality of the vocals. In fact, something very common with many singers.”
Maria Luiza explains that Juliette “has some aspects to study and master, like breathing and refining the mood”. But she notes that the Paraíba “is doing very well as a singer who is at the beginning of her studies and her career”.
In addition to winning “BBB 21” last May with no less than 90.15% of the audience vote, Juliette exited the reality show with a guaranteed life out here. As a safe bet for Brazilian publicity, she invested in her music career and released the EP Juliette.

The decision to become a singer came as no surprise to those who followed the Paraibana on the reality show. During the confinement to the program she started singing and due to her popularity she managed to go viral with the songs “Deus me protec” by Chico Csar; “Sozinho”, composed by Peninha and recorded by Caetano Veloso; “Bixinho” by Duda Beat; and “Triste, luna em” by the band Francisco, el Hombre.
During the reality show, Juliette was praised by one of her peers, singer Rodolffo of the duo with Israel, who, upon hearing her, said: “Can I talk to you about something? Their market is very open to music.”
After completing the program, she received support from artists of the caliber Elba Ramalho and Gilberto Gil, with whom she sang in concerts.
Last Monday (May 16) Juliette hit back at Samantha Schmtz without mentioning the actress. “Art encompasses, enchants, excites and transcends any label. Being an artist is something so beautiful and bigger than all of that…touching the other with the best in you, donation, love, truth,” she wrote on Twitter. “So, yes, I’m an artist and I study a lot.”
“It’s all mixed up: celebrity, celebrity… And she becomes an actress, becomes an actress, becomes an artist! I took my frustration out on Juliette. It’s very difficult to be an independent artist if you don’t have the machine to help and empower you. Artists are massacred. I see millions of friends giving up because they don’t have the help of algorithms. This whole revolt blew me up that second there.

EXCUSES
Given the impact of her criticism, Samantha apologized in a video posted to social media last Wednesday (05/18). Weeping, the actress, who is at the Cannes Film Festival, said her placement was “unhappy, filled with sadness and lacking in empathy”.
“Guys, I’m passing and I wish I had come earlier, but I had to think, I had to digest, I had to cry, I had to understand that my comment was really very unfortunate. It was filled with hate, sadness and a lack of empathy,” he said.
“Juliette is actually a person who is doing good in Brazil. He has very little time as an artist, yes, because he sings, he plays a soldout show, he has his fans. And I made that comment totally unnecessary, out of place. I’m super sad. I’ve learned from that, you can be sure of that,” he added.
Samantha stated that she made the comment because she was amazed at the “confusion” between being an artist and the media performance of celebrities and digital influencers.
This whole riot blew me up that second there, and I was like, ‘No, what is that!? The problem isn’t her’. I deleted the comment but it was up in the air for 40 seconds, enough,” he said.
In a mea culpa, the actress apologized to Juliette, her fans “and who I hurt”. And he reflected: “You can be sure that I am the person who is most hurt, hurt and affected by this story the most. This comes at a time when it has nothing to do with feeling this because I am in Cannes to study and to bring more quality to my work and to my audience.”
