China values ​​its relations with Russia. The friendship between Beijing and Moscow is “strong as a rock,” Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi assured on Monday, March 7, during his annual press conference on the sidelines of the parliamentary session. Tied to a partnership with Moscow, China has refrained from condemning Russia’s intervention in Ukraine, refusing to even talk about an “invasion.” The minister also considered that Beijing and Moscow “contributed” to peace and stability in the world.

“Prospects for future cooperation are huge,” the minister said. A month earlier, Vladimir Putin considered the Sino-Russian friendship “an example of worthy relations, when each helps and supports the other in its development.”

The head of Chinese diplomacy also said on Monday that his country is “ready” to play a role in the Ukrainian crisis, in particular by participating “if necessary” in international mediation to end the war. Beijing will send humanitarian aid to Ukraine, the minister assured.
