This is an early look at 6ft 3 in Sir Lenny Henry in one of his smallest roles yet.

With fake ears and a white wig, he plays the Lord of the Rings prequel Sadoc Burrows, one of the famous little hobbits, in the Amazon prequel series The Rings of Power.

A photo released from the upcoming program shows he was also outfitted with hairy prosthetic feet for the role. He wears a cape and a dirty white top with a necklace.

Sir Lenny, 63, told the Radio Times his character was the “traditional Tolkien”. Sadoc is the leader of the nomadic Harfoot community, a race of hobbits in the Lord of the Rings universe.

Sadoc Burrows is the leader of a nomadic tribe of hobbits and “traditional Tolkien”: Sir Lenny

“We are a nomadic tribe and we follow the weather to where the harvest arrives,” said Sir Lenny.

“We have a huge caravan with wooden wheels. We are a very good way to hide things because humans are much bigger and cause problems. We are traditional Tolkien.

“In general, little people are funny to this world, but you can also be so brave.” And while he’s no longer invited to many leadership roles today, he still enjoys working on projects.

“I’m a man of a certain age now; It’s just nice to still be asked for things,” he told the Radio Times.

The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power series, which will reportedly cost Amazon £850million to produce, is set thousands of years before the triple-film franchise.

It features a variety of British actors including Robert Aramayo (29), Joseph Mawle (48), Owain Arthur (39) and Nazanin Boniadi (42).

The series, developed by screenwriters JD Payne and Patrick McKay, is slated to debut on September 2 on Amazon Prime with the first eight episodes of a five-year run.
