A small explosion in front of the Quebec Parliament triggers a police operation.
The Quebec City Police Service (SPVQ) was called to intervene outside Parliament at around 3:50 p.m. when a citizen heard a small explosion near the Tourny fountain.
The authorities immediately initiated a police operation and demanded the presence of the pyrotechnicians and the dog unit.
Although the sound of the explosion resembled that of a firecracker, the SPVQ left nothing to chance and established a security perimeter in the area.
Avenue Honoré-Mercier was also closed for checks.
A person of interest was also interviewed at the crime scene.
