Snapchat took advantage of that Snap Partner Summit 2023, an annual conference dedicated to the new features of the social network to announce several features related to artificial intelligence. The application, which aims to compete with its rival TikTok, continues to ride the craze caused by generative AIs like the indispensable ChatGPT.
A chatbot available to everyone
First off, My AI, the in-app chatGPT, is now available available to all Snapchat users. Announced in February, the chatbot was previously a trial only for subscribers to Snapchat+, the paid subscription that launched last year.
Since its launch, “millions of subscribers” to Snapchat+ have spoken to the conversations agent, Snap Inc. applauds. Every day, the chatbot has received “nearly 2 million messages.” According to the social network, it’s a success. Because of this, AI is now offered to all users.

Bring AI into your conversations
Building on the excitement My AI is generating, Snapchat will enable users to do soInclude AI in their conversations. From now on, you can add the robot to group conversations with your loved ones just like you would any friend. Previously in chats you had to go to a special section to engage with AI. It was not possible to converse with your loved ones and with the chatbot at the same time. To our knowledge, this is a unique approach in the market.
The chatbot, which is still very limited compared to the standard version of ChatGPT, will also be something more useful. In addition to conversations, My AI now offers location recommendations directly on Snap Maps, the interactive map for Snapchat’s geolocation service, and augmented reality effect recommendations on Lenses. So far, the algorithm has only served to entertain Internet users by giving advice on cooking, trips or introducing songs.
Also note that it is now possible to choose a Bitmoji, the Snapchat-style avatar personalized for your My AI. At launch, you had to settle for the platform’s default avatars.
Eventually Snapchat will allow this tooExchange snaps with artificial intelligence. If you send the chatbot a photo, it will reply with a self-generated image. We imagine that Snapchat is based on Dall-E, which is also designed by OpenAI, just like Microsoft Bing. The social network will reserve this feature for Snapchat+ subscribers… before offering it to all users?
