SNC-Lavalin changes its name to AtkinsRéalis

The Montreal company SNC-Lavalin, which specializes in infrastructure construction, will change its name to AtkinRéalis.

Chairman and CEO Ian Edwards made the announcement on Tuesday, emphasizing that it was a “new name for a transformed company.”

“We have consciously repositioned the company in recent years,” he added. “We exited activities that were not profitable or did not align with our strategy; we have solved the fundamental problems; We have redoubled our efforts in high-growth global markets. we have carried out our digital transformation; and, most importantly, we redefined our purpose and strengthened our culture.”

The new name combines “Atkins” – the name of a subsidiary of the company used in international markets – and the term “Réalis”, said to be inspired by the city of Montreal, to highlight the company’s roots in Quebec.

“In addition, “Réalis” evokes the verb “realize” or “enable” and perfectly describes the attention we devote to the results and realization of our projects,” the company explained in its press release.

The SNC-Lavalin name will therefore disappear on Wednesday, while the company’s common shares will trade under the new logo from September 18.

As required by law, the official name change will not take place until the Annual General Meeting in 2024.
