Cori Broadus, the daughter of rapper Snoop Dogg, said she burst into tears when doctors told her she had suffered a “major stroke” at the age of 24.

Broadus shared her news with her 657,000 followers in an Instagram Story on Thursday with a picture of herself lying in a hospital bed.

She commented: “I had a massive stroke this morning. When they told me, I started crying.

“I’m only 24. What did I do in my past to deserve all this?”

Doctors sometimes refer to a stroke as a heart attack of the brain.

It occurs when the blood supply to the brain is interrupted.

In response to friends who sent her well wishes on Instagram, Broadus posted, “I love you, I love you.”

Signs and symptoms of a stroke

Doctors sometimes refer to a stroke as a heart attack of the brain. This happens when the blood supply to the brain is cut off.

The Stroke Association website says a stroke is a medical emergency and its impact depends on where in the brain it occurs and the size of the area damaged.

A stroke can be identified by the acronym Fast (Face, Arms, Speech, Time):

  • Facial Weakness: Can the person smile? Has her mouth or eye drooped?
  • Arm Weakness: Can the person lift both arms?
  • Language problems: Can the person speak clearly and understand what you say?
  • Time: The association says if you experience any of these symptoms, don't wait, call 999

Although the rapid test helps detect the three most common symptoms of a stroke, there are other signs that must always be taken seriously, according to the association.

These include sudden weakness or numbness on one side of the body (including legs, hands or feet), difficulty finding words or speaking in clear sentences, sudden blurred vision or loss of vision in one or both eyes, sudden memory loss or confusion, etc. Dizziness or a sudden Fall and sudden, severe headache.
