Just before 5 a.m. Sunday morning, a “Current Winter Road Condition Alert” was posted on Environment and Climate Change Canada's website.

A total of 5 to 15 centimeters of snow accumulation was expected by evening. Snow and cold weather make for slippery road conditions.

A weather warning was also in effect for Gatineau and Trois-Rivières.

According to Environment Canada, this is a foretaste of a major storm “with variable types of precipitation and strong to severe winds” that will arrive starting Tuesday evening.

According to Environment Canada forecasts, this time the predicted storm will hit the entire province from Gatineau to Quebec, Rivière-du-Loup, Baie-Comeau, Saguenay and Gaspé between Tuesday evening and Thursday morning.

On Sunday morning, just before 7 a.m., the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility reported that road conditions in the Greater Montreal area, the North Crown and the South Shore, were fair.

A few road exits were reported, particularly on Highway 15 north in Laval and slightly further north on Highway 640 in Rosemère in the Laurentians.
