A system from Colorado will hit Quebec between Thursday afternoon and Friday. What to expect? We reveal the critical moments here.
Snow
This depression will not leave significant amounts of snow. In some places up to fifteen centimeters could fall, especially in the west of the province. Abitibi-Témiscamingue will therefore be the most pampered region. The areas along the Ontario-US border, from Ville-Marie to Gatineau via Estrie, will be the lucky areas with up to 10cm of snow.
Critical moments
It will start to snow in the west on Thursday afternoon. It should be weak, but sometimes more moderate, i.e. persistent. This makes the roads potentially dangerous due to limited visibility and snowy roads. In the Rouyn-Noranda region you need to be particularly vigilant on Thursday between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. In Montreal and Sherbrooke, the critical period extends from Thursday evening to dawn on Friday.
Streets to watch
Drivers have to get used to winter driving again after more than a month without storms or significant amounts of snow. Roads 113 and 117 are most likely to experience wintry conditions with snowy roads and reduced visibility during the critical period.
The same goes for Highways 10, 20, 40 and 50, where drivers are likely to contend with snowy roads and limited visibility. Please note that conditions could make morning rush hour difficult, even if the critical moments end very early on Friday, especially if the roads are not yet completely clear.
