The local government announced on Tuesday that operations had to be suspended last winter because supplier Transvrac was unable to provide enough vehicles to transport snow to depots.

This information was released with the conclusion of a new contract with Transvrac for snow removal in eight counties.

“Transvrac faced certain challenges last year that led to interruptions in snow loading in certain districts, which were forced to find trucks and workers,” reported Dominic Perri, elected in Saint-Léonard and president of the contract review commission.

Pierrefonds-Roxboro Mayor Jim Beis argued that “this situation is problematic.” He denounced that it was the municipalities that had to pay for the rental of additional trucks themselves.

“I admit it is worrying. “We all want to have enough trucks and we will have them,” said the board’s elected records manager, Maja Vodanovic. The officials involved have been working for weeks “to ensure that each county has the trucks necessary for snow removal.”

The new Transvrac contract includes measures to reduce the risk of service disruptions. Among other things, fewer districts are served by this company than in the previous year.
