The first snowflakes are expected in Montreal around 7 a.m. on Friday morning. Environment Canada has issued snowfall warnings for many regions in southern Quebec, including Montreal, Quebec, Estrie, Montérégie, Lanaudière, Laurentides, Gatineau, Mauricie, Charlevoix and Beauce.
The federal agency explains in its weather warning that this precipitation is the result of a low-pressure area that is moving up the American east coast.
In the Montreal metro area, snow was expected to start Friday morning and intensify in the early evening. The same scenario is expected in the Mauricie and Estrie regions, but where accumulations could reach up to 25 centimetres.
In Greater Québec City, snowfall this weekend is expected to be closer to 15 centimeters.
Environment Canada recommends adjusting your driving style as road conditions can vary. In addition, visibility can be suddenly reduced at times due to heavy snowfall.
