Snowstorm: The worst is over in Quebec

Most of the snowstorm that was expected to hit the Quebec City area on Thursday passed overnight, leaving a total of 11 inches of snow at Jean-Lesage Airport.

However, certain more mountainous sectors of the region may see slightly larger accumulation. Still, only 2 to 4 centimeters of snow should fall by the end of the day, says Environment Canada meteorologist Dominic Martel.

Gusts of 70 km/h in the morning, combined with light snowfall, can cause blowing snow in places. Visibility could be near zero in areas along the St. Lawrence River, Mr. Martel says.

Some material accidents and road trips also happened on the territory, but at the time of writing these lines there were no major collisions.

The weather should soften as the afternoon progresses, as will the mercury. We showed -19C with morning wind chill, a number that will rise to -8C after dinner.
