Australia’s World Cup run came to an end on Sunday after the Socceroos lost 2-1 to Argentina.
A couple of very costly mistakes from Aziz Behich and goalkeeper Mat Ryan were the pivotal moments that sent the Socceroos back two goals to the South American giants.
Graham Arnold’s men put in an outstanding performance in their first World Cup knockout game since 2006 and were dangerous up to the final minute.
The result ended a fantastic tournament for the Aussies and emotions ran high after the game.

Jackson Irvine struggled to keep his composure in a post-game interview with SBS.
“Yes, we gave everything. Just as we have every minute of this competition. So proud of all players and staff. Yeah, just not enough that day,” Irvine said.
“I think we did everything we could. We got up to stay compact and disciplined in our form. We were excellent defensively, we gave up very little until the end. You have to hold out for the last 15 minutes.
When the midfielder was asked about the impact of the Socceroos putting Australian football back on the map, Irvine was overcome with emotion.
“It’s difficult to understand everything at the moment. It’s all pretty raw,” Irvine said, fighting back tears.
“But yes, I hope we made everyone proud.”
Irvine then put his face in his hands and left the interview.
