Sofia Vergara opens up about how she dealt with her high-profile divorce from actor Joe Manganiello, revealing that the experience was somewhat predictable but also surprising.

For the public's interest, Vergara said that's a given. “You’re out there. People know it. That's part of being a celebrity. I knew it would happen. You can't hide these things,” she shared on “CBS News Sunday Morning.”

Vergara elaborated on how she handled that kind of attention, admitting, “It wasn't bad.”

“I have to say the press was very respectful and very nice,” she added. “I thought they would invent more things, you know how it usually is. And I was surprised,” she said. “They just said what it was and that was it.”

But it would be remiss of Vergara not to acknowledge the gravity of her situation. “I've had a very interesting year,” Vergara told People magazine in November 2023. “I don't want to say 'bad' or anything like that, but it was very interesting and very difficult.”

“I got divorced this year, the SAG strike that lasted so long,” she noted. “I saw my friends struggling – some had to take their kids out of school or had problems with their mortgages, so it's been a strange, strange year.”

“It’s not that it’s bad,” she clarified. “I think everything will clear up, everything will be fine and I’m really looking forward to next year.”
