Sofía Vergara continues to vigorously defend the series “Griselda,” a Netflix project based on the life of Colombian drug trafficker Griselda Blanco, known for introducing Pablo Escobar to the same business.
Although the project tells how Blanco was sentenced to 15 years in prison by a New York court for conspiring to import and distribute cocaine, the production sparked criticism in some quarters, including from the current Colombian ambassador to London, former senator Roy Barreras .

The politician expressed his displeasure via social networks and explained that these productions damaged Colombia's image abroad, which is why Vergara now used the interview with journalist Jorge Ramos to respond to these allegations and commented unmoved:
“Partly you're absolutely right, there are a lot of spectacular stories, I wasn't lucky enough to get one of those stories and one of the studios would pay attention to me, but you bring them something that has to do with drug traffickers and it is a fascination “They fascinate me, I see them all and I’m Colombian.”
Since there is a very popular series on the same digital platform, Sofía pointed out the differences between “Narcos” and “Griselda.” “This is really a bit more about the empowerment of a woman, how she manages to reach and reach a higher level than men, even Pablo Escobar was afraid of her,” she explained.
Together, Vergara regretted that her compatriot chose the wrong path and did not dedicate herself to the goal of being a good woman, believing that she was able to achieve an excellent position in her country.
“I think that if Griselda Blanco had not taken the wrong path with her intelligence and her cunning, she could have been president of Colombia, she could have been president of a multinational, but she lost her mind in egos,” he defined.

On the other hand, Vergara revealed in an interview for the show La Mesa Caliente that she was going through a difficult time one evening before the start of recording for the controversial project.
“It scared me and I said to Manolo (his son): 'Am I really going to be able to do this?' “I'm crazy because I felt like I didn't have that evil woman inside me and Manolo told me: 'No, I saw her,'” said the woman from Barranquilla.
In this sense, the protagonist of “Modern Family” highlighted the work of the director of “Griselda”, explaining that thanks to him she was able to embody this character, which she considers one of the most important in her career.
