Even though the series Modern Family was about new forms of parenting, one of its actresses, Sofía Vergara, is personally not a fan of it. The 51-year-old Griselda star didn't want to be an “old mother” while her partner Joe Manganiello, 47, wanted to start a family with her. And that led to divorce.
In fact, the actress revealed to Spanish newspaper El País that she and the Magic Mike star filed for divorce last year because he wanted children and she didn't want any more. “My marriage fell apart because my husband was younger; “He wanted to have children and I didn’t want to be an old mother,” explained Sofia Vergara.
And because she's thinking about the baby, she makes this decision. “I don't think it's fair to the baby. “I respect those who do it, but it's not for me anymore,” she clarified.
She thinks it's her turn to be a grandmother! Sofia Vergara, who has an adult son named Manolo with her ex-husband Joe Gonzalez, continued: “I had a son when I was 19, who is now 32, and I'm ready to be a grandmother, not a mother.”
She added, without hiding anything about her personal life: “I'm almost menopausal; it is the natural course of things. When my son becomes a father, he should bring the baby to me for a while, then I will give it back to him and move on with my life; This is what I have to do.”
Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello announced their divorce last July after seven years of marriage. To avoid this problem, the Colombian actress preferred that her next partner already had children. “When love shows itself, it must bring with it its own children,” said Sofia Vergara.
