People who want to safely observe the solar eclipse in a few months can do so thanks to these glasses.
Without this protection, the retina can be permanently damaged within seconds by looking directly at the eclipse.
Each pair of glasses costs the MRC $1, for a total of $4,000 plus taxes. It is fully funded by the Local and Regional Development Fund (FDLR).
Glasses not used at the various events in the communes of Haut-Saint-François will be reimbursed by the Mont-Mégantic National Park (PNMM).
Meetings throughout the HSF area
In April 2023, the members of the Council of the MRC du Haut-Saint-François declared that they wanted to involve as many communities on their territory as possible in this extremely rare phenomenon. They said they hoped to hold multiple eclipse-related activities in as many locations as possible, a desire also shared by communities.
The distribution of these glasses was announced to make it easier for all communities to hold their own local event.
In addition, the PNMM is organizing a special activity for the occasion. Visitors are expected to exceed capacity.
Reservations for the event at PNMM begin at 9 a.m. on December 14th.
