The project also uses the contribution of several other authors. Some of them did not work directly with Massimo Troisi, but were significantly influenced by him.

Someone Loves Me Over There, the latest tribute to Massimo Troisi is coming to the Berlin Film Festival

Mario Martone’s documentary film was born from the Neapolitan author’s specific intention to highlight the director Massimo Troisi, even before the great comedian we all know. In the reworking of scenes from the films of the late artist Oscar nomination Per Postman, Martone outlines his artistic journey from start to finish. Through the documentary, he followed the main points of his formation, which the city of Naples has as a common matrix with Massimo Troisi.

And it is precisely through the operation of editing that Martone succeeds in interlacing conversations and debates between people who did not have direct contact with the “Comedian of Feelings”, but who were deeply influenced by him. Among the faces that appeared in Over there, someone loves me, they stand out Franz Klein, Paolo Sorrentino, Ficarra and Picone. In the film we will also see those who made his posthumous work The Postman possible, ie Michael Radford and Roberto Perpignani.

In that respect it is an exception Anna Pavignano who has collaborated with Troisi in writing his films. Martone wanted to meet you to analyze this creative processes from which the feature films of the artist of San Giorgio a Cremano were born. The screenwriter herself took an active part in the project, came to the 73rd Berlin International Film Festival and provided valuable unreleased material.

“Massimo has always remained alive in the collective imagination,” Martone explained of the project, continuing — because it’s a great soul and a great artist. And it is very special for me to work on the script with Anna, who wrote all of Massimo’s films and whose presence at his side showed very well how open, dialectical and forward Massimo was in his view of things. How much more can he talk to us now. We make this film to hear it again, to see it again, to be there
