The son of Gary Sinise, an American Catholic actor who famously played Lieutenant Dan in the 1990s film Forrest Gump, has died at the young age of 33 from a rare form of cancer.
Sinise, also known for his starring role on the television series CSI: New York, shared the sad news on February 27, more than five years after his son Mac was diagnosed with chordoma, a rare type of bone cancer, according to the Mayo Clinic , “usually forms in the bones of the spine or skull.”
Since 2017, Mac, also Catholic, worked alongside his father at the Gary Sinise Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting military veterans, first responders and their families in the United States.
