Sonia LeBel wants to break the “sluggishness” of negotiations in the areas of education and health

In an interview on Thursday’s Tout un matin on ICI Première, Sonia LeBel said it was commonplace for teachers to follow the process in order to have a real punch in their balance of power.

Given this not uncommon process, the Treasury Department president said it was important to work twice as hard over the summer to reach an agreement by the fall.

The minister regrets this on the side of the sectoral negotiating tables in the two large sectors [santé et éducation]we may be in a state of inertia that I don’t particularly like.

Sonia LeBel says she made suggestions to the unions but received no feedback [elle] [s’]waits[ait].

“How should I behave at the negotiating table when I hear comments like ‘It’s too late’? Say: “It’s perfect, we’re closing the books, it’s over?” »

On Wednesday, employers’ representatives upgraded their monetary offers in the areas of education and health in hopes of striking a renewal of collective agreements in the public and parastatal sectors with the unions.

In response to Minister LeBel’s remarks to Tout un matin, the Fédération des unions de l’enseignement CSQ told Radio-Canada.ca that the employers’ party was solely responsible for the inertia [sa] Table.

Through its spokesman Étienne Richer, the FSE-CSQ said that since the beginning of the negotiations it has asked the leading party to hold at least two meetings per week: so far we were only entitled to one meeting every 7 to 10 days.

“Since January we have offered the management party 91 appointments. They were only available for 19 of them! »

The FSE has criticized François Legault’s government for slowing down negotiations.

For its part, the Autonomous Federation of Education (FAE) asked the Quebec government on May 11 to appoint a mediator as part of these negotiations.

Our representatives at the negotiating tables see a lack of openness to discuss what is most fundamental to us in these negotiations: the composition of the class, the FAE wrote in a press release.

Given the urgency of the situation in the public school network, Mélanie Hubert, President, needs a mediator.
